Current projects: assisted reproduction & patient integrity and empowerment

New technologies for the treatment of infertility

The research findings concerning assisted reproduction have led to new methods of treatment and the political and societal debate in Swedenhas become more permissive in the last decade. In recent years the regulation has been questioned and demands for the possibility to inseminate for single women, surrogacy pregnancy and embryo donation has been raised.
The council is discussing different methods of assisted reproduction and is reassessing its earlier statements.  The council’s opinion/report will be published in October/November 2012.

Patient integrity and empowerment

The council will give special attention to questions concerning patient integrity and empowerment in its future work. A conference on the subject will be held on the 8th of November, at the conference centre, government offices.
